Boarding at Nookside
“You can have more than one home. You can carry your roots with you, and decide where they grow.” — Henning Mankell
ProElite line feed programs customized to your horse's individual needs. Owner's may also provide their own grain and it will be fed as instructed by owner.
Up to 8 flakes of high quality grass hay per horse is given. Hay is available at all times in the run-in sheds and stalls. Hay is fed through owner-provided hay nets. Additional hay needs may be available at cost to the owner and at the discretion of the barn manager.
All horses (pasture board or barn board) are turned out in lush, green pastures. Pastures are checked and cleaned daily. Large run-in sheds are provided in each pasture. In pasture board fields, there are tack rooms in the run-in sheds.
Stall boarders have the option between our two barns. The lower pole-style barn houses roomy stalls, hot/cold water wash stall, tack room, and restroom. Horses have the option of stalls with a 'window' front or the standard stall with no opening into the barn aisle. The 'upper' stone barn has fewer but larger stalls. The stone barn sports a wooden floor, hot/cold water wash stall, and tack room. Both barns are expertly cleaned once a day while the horses are turned out.
Owner-provided fly gear as well as fly spray can be applied by barn staff at no additional cost to owner. Owner-provided grazing muzzles and cribbing collars can be applied as needed.
Owner-provided blankets are applied by barn staff at no additional cost. Blankets are tagged with a color-code system that is reflected by temperature increments in the same color. Blankets are applied beginning in November of each year.
Owner-provided medications and supplements can be given as directed by barn staff at no additional cost
Farrier Matt Shock is regularly scheduled at Nookside. If you use Matt and get on his regular schedule barn staff will hold your horse for the appointment.
There are scheduled vet days at the barn in which your horse may be held by barn staff at no cost. Additional appointments may require owner hold or additional cost for staff to hold the horse for the appointment.
